Spanish Virgin Islands Debunked

If your charter company promises sailing adventures and cerulean seascapes in the Spanish Virgin Islands that will likely be their first lie to you. There is no such place as the Spanish Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, and you will not find it on your nautical chart. The promotion of this new virgin archipelago is complete and certified bullshit being pushed by charter companies that would rather have you ignore the fact that you have chartered a boat in Puerto Rico; downwind and miles from the real Virgins. Culebra and Vieques are what they have in mind.

Spanish Virgin Islands Debunked www.oceantrader.co

These two islands are worth exploring and you will encounter anchorages that compare with the real Virgins, but these islands are not in the Virgin Islands. This Spanish Virgins marketing campaign has managed to piss-off our neighbors in Puerto Rico who prefer their own territorial identity, and it has also rankled the folk in the Virgin Islands who are, largely, not Spanish in any dimension or form. The people that dream up this type of geographic spin are foolish in assuming that the locals down in the islands will not take notice, or even mind having their genetic inheritance reclassified.
